Strmol Estate is known for its cosy café, beautiful nature, and the manor house. Strmol Castle, the backdrop to very lively historical events, is one of the few castles in Slovenia that has kept its Slovenian name throughout time.

Strmol Castle has weathered centuries of turbulent history and is one of the oldest and best-preserved castles in Slovenia.

Strmol Castle is the recipient of the prestigious “Unique Castle of the Year 2018” prize, awarded by the specialised Travel & Hospitality tourist magazine based in London.

In 2004, Strmol Castle was deemed a cultural monument of national importance. With the intention of preserving cultural heritage, it was renovated in its entirety between 2010 and 2012.

Strmol Castle is located at the foot of Dvorjanski hrib (“Mansion Hill”) near Cerklje na Gorenjskem. The castle’s roots go all the way back to the 13th century when it was home to the Strmol Knights after whom the building was originally named. Despite changing hands several times, the castle name has remained.
