Cafe Belvedere located in a historical ambience, offers an unforgettable view of the lake Bled and the Bled island. The Belvedere Pavilion was conceptually designed by the renowned Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, who drew up plans for a new, extensive summer residence for Yugoslavian King Alexander, the owner of Villa Bled at the time. However, due to the outbreak of World War II, the plan was never fully implemented. They managed to build a 30-meter stone columns – the reception hall of the residence, on which they built a pavilion after the war, based on Plečnik’s plans. Yugoslav President Tito hosted royal families, presidents and celebrities of the time at tea parties, over cognac and cigars at Belvedere pavilion. Nowadays, in the summer time, it operates as a cafe, which offers a selection of refreshments and desserts.
Many say that the most beautiful view of Lake Bled and the island is to be find here. A real reward for anyone who climbs the steps from the promenade around the lake.
